A message from Kassy

Dear Friends,

When we began our movement for change over five years ago, we had no idea the journey ahead. And last March, we never imagined that it would be two years before we could all get together in person again. Our nation has experienced so much. Our work has become increasingly more and more relevant to the struggles we face as a country. We continue to be impacted by the deep division and distrust between police and community, but at Serve & Connect, we see hope unfold before our very eyes. We are witnessing transformation take place and we are excited to celebrate our mission on March 18.

When my husband Greg was killed, I was driven to create a new conversation, one that promotes unity, healing and empathy. We are doing just that and, together with our partners, are tackling challenges through collaboration—one neighborhood at a time.

We believe in the power of people to drive change. We believe people are capable of accomplishing great things, especially when we work together. Because we believe in those things, we are committed to working with police and community, helping to identify where there are the greatest opportunities for making lasting change and building the pathway to make those dreams a reality.

We have learned that partnerships are the key to igniting positive change. By optimizing collaboration, elevating trust, and establishing shared pride among police, community organizations, leaders and residents, we show that a different path is possible; one where we work together with our shared goals and inspire to create better outcomes for all.

I remain amazed at the level of change we have witnessed in such a short time. This work would not be possible without your support. Your support of Illuminight help strengthen neighborhoods and communities through police-community partnerships and shape a new story of hope and a better future for our children.

Together, we are better. Together, there is hope.

With love,

Guest Speaker: Chris Singleton

Chris is a former minor league baseball player drafted by the Chicago Cubs.
