Help Us Serve Those Who Serve Us

Happy 5th Birthday Feed An Officer! We are celebrating five years of facilitating our annual “Feed An Officer” campaign which is an annual effort to rally community support for local law enforcement via donations collected through local restaurants. After the collection drive, the funds will provide numerous police stations with either a catered lunch or a gift certificate on December 16th. The 2019 campaign will run November 24th – December 8th.

Since 2015, the Feed An Officer Campaign has consistently engaged the community in providing an average of 500 lunches and more than $8,000 in gift certificates to local restaurants annually as a way of saying thanks to law enforcement officers throughout the Midlands. The day was founded by Serve & Connect CEO Kassy Alia Ray in memory of Greg Alia Day. Recognized on December 14th in Richland County and the City of Forest Acres, Greg Alia Day remembers Forest Acres police officer Gregory Alia who was killed in the line of duty on September 30, 2015.

“Through Serve & Connect, we focus on the critical importance of community safety partnerships for cultivating thriving communities,” shared Alia Ray. “Every day, police throughout our community are going above and beyond to make our communities better, safer places to live. Our annual Feed An Officer campaign in recognition of Greg Alia Day is a way to say thank you by serving those who serve us.”

The Feed An Officer Campaign would not be possible without the many volunteers and partner who make this work possible. A special thank you to our 2019 Volunteer Team, especially Kent Krieg (FAO Chair), Anastasia Manos, Shannon Fancher, Kris Quinto, Ali Purdy, and Macey Silano. A special thank you to FAO 2019 sponsors, Professional Printers and Shives Funeral Homes.

There are many ways to get involved in this year’s campaign! You can volunteer to deliver meals on December 16th or donate to adopt a department. Contact us to learn more
